ABOUT THE COUNTRY
Togo, a country approximately the size of West Virginia, is one of the poorest countries in West Africa. Its dark and turbulent past is symbolic of the ongoing struggle of African nations to overcome their colonial ties while at the same time building on that legacy. Togo and its neighboring country Benin are recognized as the home of voodoo. This spiritual darkness adds to chronic issues of poverty, illiteracy, corruption, malnutrition and disease.
Polygamy is legal and common throughout Togo. Where we work in Vogan, Togo, many children come from polygamous families where the husband leaves for another wife or the “other” family leaves them completely orphaned. Consequently, children are neglected, malnourished, uneducated, and without hope.

VisionTrust partners with Bruno and his wife Amy to minister to the Ouatchi people in Vogan, Togo. At Togo Christian Academy the couple currently provides excellent education for Kindergarten through 6th grade, as well as biblical teaching, food and medical care. Their hope is that through consistent provision of physical and spiritual needs, the children in the school will become strong disciples of Jesus.
Bruno has deeply invested in the discipleship and development of the youth, giving them opportunity to live for God and love others. VisionTrust recently built a chicken farm to help provide a sustainable food source for the children, and we’re looking forward to providing vocational training and establishing a medical clinic to advance health care.
