Jerson is a responsible child who lives with his mother and little brothers in the impoverished area of Ayacucho, Peru. His father abandoned the family and his mother struggles to provide for the family while caring for small children. The typical home is constructed from mud or cement, with a tile roof and a mud or cement floor. Jerson lives in an environment where alcoholism, domestic violence and child abandonment are common social issues.
