ABOUT THIS PROJECT
According to UNICEF, over 5,000 children under the age of five die every single day in Eastern and Southern Africa due to hunger. Without proper nutrition, children are often unable to function normally, have trouble focusing in school, and are more likely to become sick.
In 2012, we started Million Meals—a five-year sustainable feeding program connected with agricultural training and leadership development. Our goal is to provide nutritious meals for thousands of children in Zimbabwe—putting extra emphasis on caring for the most developmentally at-risk—while at the same time training local leaders and farmers in different drought-resistant farming techniques. We believe that any child who is well-nourished, well-educated, and well-loved can grow into a future leader in his/her community and help break the cycle of poverty.
With your help, we will continue feeding children and training farmers as we slowly transition towards the goal that—someday soon—communities in Zimbabwe will be able to feed their own orphaned and under-nourished children.
