Do you have God-glasses?
Do you have God-glasses? Can you see things as He sees them? Last September in Colorado
Springs, fourteen of our country directors from around the world helped over 200
people see as God sees at our Seeing 20/20 benefit dinner. They invited us to see
the world’s neediest children as God sees them.
Real stories about real children were read aloud by each country director along
with how God has worked in wonderful ways to heal children that were beaten, abused
and broken. They read aloud as if they were the actual child reading it. One child
named Maria told us how she, a newborn, was left to die under a bridge by her mother
because she had a cleft palate. Then she told us about her miracle; how she was
healed through doctors and how she will be adopted soon. Another child named A Sorn
told us how she was sold by the police as a slave to a restaurant owner for $600
when she was 11. Then she told us that three months later, when she had given up
all hope of a future, VisionTrust found her and returned her to her family. Twelve
special stories were shared in all. Each story ended with, “My name is (insert child’s
name). Do you see me?”
As I listened, I imagined the face of each child and heard them ask me if I could
see them. As I fought the tears, the powerful verse from Matthew 25 came to my mind
and I began to weep: “Whatever you did for the least of these, you have done for
me.” I was reminded that these children are the ones Jesus was talking about. Then,
as if Jesus was talking directly to me, He asked me, “Do you see me?” I said to
myself, “Yes, I see you.”
The very children we serve have humbled me. Their stories of how they have overcome
all that is against them tells me that I can work harder, do more, sacrifice what
I have to help them. Hearing Jesus ask me, “Do you see me?” breaks me and motivates
me.
Do you have God-glasses? If you do, join us in a thrilling adventure over the next
10 years to help 100,000 children! So what do we do first? We must unite and pray,
asking God to work mightily. Second, we must work together and raise the $191,200
needed to add 3,000 precious children in 2011. Will you join us in this life-changing
adventure?
THANK YOU for all you do! Thousands of children’s lives are being wonderfully changed
because of you!
Defending the weak and fatherless with you,
Matthew Storer, President of VisionTrust
