Aida is a quiet and thoughtful little girl who enjoys running and playing hide and seek. She lives with her mother and 4 siblings in the area of Katsekera southeast of Ntcheu. Her father is deceased and her single mother finds it difficult to adequately provide for the family. Often, the children have to stay home to help their mother work in their small garden. The typical home is constructed from clay bricks, with a thatch or tin roof and a dirt floor. There is no plumbing, electricity or water. They get their water from a community well that is far from their home.
