Are you an Advocate?
Webster’s New World College Dictionary defines advocate as "a person who pleads another’s cause." The Bible uses the word advocate in 1 John 2:1. It says, “And if anyone sins, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ.” Jesus is the best example of an advocate. He encourages us to do the same for others - to be advocates for people who can not speak up for themselves. Isaiah 1:17 communicates this clearly by instructing us to “Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.”
VisionTrust is just an organization that connects people like you to children who need someone to plead their cause. It is not the advocate. We the people are!
Now you may be saying to yourself, “Ok Matt. I get it, but how do I engage without flying to Africa? How can I be an advocate right where I live?” You can make a difference in real and relevant ways by hosting an Orphan Sunday at your church, collecting vitamins or school supplies, running a Change for Life campaign, or sponsoring a child.
